Birthday Hide & Seek

On Friday, August 6th (Sara's 27th Birthday) we had our first official new OB appointment. Everything was going along smoothly until we got to the heartbeat portion of the appointment. Because we'd found it just a week earlier we assumed finding it a second time would be a piece of cake. With Grandpa & Grandma Schlipp anxiously waiting on the phone we all waited while the Midwife struggled to find it. After trying for nearly 10 minutes, Aaron nervously hung up with the Schlipps and we evaluated our options. Though probably unnecessary we decided to head to the downtown clinic where we'd had success a week before. When the Midwife there also could not find the heartbeat she decided it was time to bring in an Ultrasound and we started to fear the worst. After the longest 20 minutes of our lives waiting for the Doctor we were immediately relieved to see our baby waving at us (literally) and the small heartbeat all aflutter. Needless to say we walked away incredibly relieved and evermore grateful for the precious life growing inside. ***We were also relieved to find there was just ONE baby.
